Frequently Asked Questions
Does my child need access to a piano at home to be successful?
Yes! Daily practice at home reinforces the concepts taught during lessons and allows students to progress at at a reasonable pace.
What kind of piano do I need?
I strongly encourage old-fashioned acoustic pianos. Digital pianos are wonderful as long as the piano has 88 full size weighted keys and a stationary pedal.
How long are the lessons?
Accllerated Piano Lab lessons are fifty-five minutes long with a maximum of four students in each class. Private lessons are thirty or forty-five minutes. Preschool lessons are thirty minutes long.
What is covered during each lesson?
Students will spend the majority of their time actually playing the piano while learning note values and note names. Good technique is strongly encouraged. Ear training and theory are also an important part of lessons.
How fast can my child progress?
Students will progress depending on the amount of practice time at home, faithful attendance of lessons, and their desire to achieve. Typically, students can complete at minimum one level per year.
